Glastonbury Restaurant To Re-Open Quickly After Car Hits It

A popular Glastonbury restaurant is on track to open Tuesday after a car slammed into it early Saturday morning.

GLASTONBURY, CT — With crews working "around the clock," 2 Hopewell Bistro and Tavern is on track to open Tuesday after a car slammed into it early Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Glastonbury police have charged a 33-year-old man with drunken driving in the case.

"It will be business as usual," for not only diners on Tuesday, but for a rash of holiday parties that are booked for this week and the rest of December, a staff member said Monday. The restaurant is typically closed on Mondays, but work crews were busy putting the dining room back together.

The restaurant is located at 2 Hopewell Road in Glastonbury, just off Main Street. The crash took place at 13:33 a.m., according to a police report. A car was almost completely inside the right side of the restuarant.

Police at the scene arrested Seth Peckham, of Manchbester. In addition to a driving under the influence charge, he was charged with failure to drive upon right, according to a police report. He posted a $2,500 bond and is due on court on Dec, 23, according to a report.

The main dining room was closed Saturday and Sunday, but the tavern was able to remain open, restaurant staffers said in a Facebook post.

Glastonbury Fire Department's Company 2 responded to the crash and there were no reported injuries. Some staffers were still in the building when the crash took place, police said.
