HERNANDO, MS (WMC) - Police in Mississippi found a man in a freezer after he reportedly stole meat from Kroger.

According to police, 42-year-old Jeffery Williams was arrested for shoplifting from the Kroger on Mount Pleasant Road in Hernando.

Before reportedly stealing from Kroger, sources say the man stole a shopping bag from the Goodwill location on East Commerce Street. He then allegedly put the stolen meat from Kroger in the bag, stashed it at a local McDonald's, and went back to Kroger to try to steal again.

Police say a K-9 dog found the man in a 18-wheeler freezer truck behind the store.

Shoppers who spoke with WMC Action News 5 say they are shocked.

"I'm surprised, usually don't hear about anything happening around here," says shopper Frank Glen.

Some shoppers are even taking precautions following the incident.

"I will watch my purse a little more, watch behind me when I get in the car," says Krissy Miller.

Williams was arrested and apprehended by police.
