MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – The man accused of killing a Noxubee County woman is now in a Mississippi jail.

Henry Benamon was brought back to Macon this morning.

He was arrested in late July in Wilcox County, Alabama.

Macon Police believe Benamon killed 43-year-old Lisa Brooks.

She was found dead by family members on July 17th.

The Kemper County man is charged with murder and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Investigators say having Benamon in custody is the first step in moving the case forward.

“Yes, the family can get some closure knowing that we are doing our job. We brought him back. Now, he is going to be officially charged. It still has a long ways to go, but we do have him in custody. He will be charged with the crime in the city of Macon,” said Chief Davine Beck, Macon Police.

Bond has not been set for Benamon.

He is being held in an undisclosed location.
