Traffic backed up due to chase, traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists

However, northbound traffic in the valley is still closed by NHP.

Traffic is backed up as of 2:45 p.m. on I-580 near Washoe Valley following a chase and traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists.

A chase began within Carson City jurisdiction involving a motorcyclist who refused to stop and allegedly tried to run deputies off the road, according to dispatch. NHP was called once they entered NHP’s jurisdiction who appear to have taken over the investigation which ended near Bellevue.

As of 2:52 p.m., detectives from Carson City have also been deployed to the incident.

Traffic is backed up at least three miles according to a deputy on scene.

While investigating the incident in Washoe, it was reported that multiple large groups of about 50-80 heavily armed motorcyclists entered Carson City, heading towards the scene.

Temporary Closure of Linear Ditch Trail

Sections of the Linear Ditch Trail in Carson City will be closed starting Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, for maintenance and cleaning. The multiuse path will be closed from the east end of the Linear Ditch, east of Fremont Elementary School and continue west to South Roop Street along Governor’s Field. Maintenance is anticipated to take up to several weeks.

An approaching low pressure system will bring strong, gusty winds Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag warning for Carson City and much of the Western Nevada Sierra Front.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation from the Sierra Nevada Realtors. The donation was raised through the Sierra Nevada Realtors participation in Carson Tahoe’s annual Hopefest event and through the Realtor’s annual Cornhole for a Cause competition.

A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday in the 2500 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of a second DUI, a misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report said.

UPDATE 4PM: From Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon: The occupant who was home at the time of the fire was safely out of the home prior to firefighters arriving. No injuries were reported. The structure is a total loss. Due to the quick actions of firefighters the adjacent homes were not damaged. Carson City is being covered by mutual aid units.

UPDATE 3:45PM: Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon reports knock down on the mobile home fire on Dori Way. One person was out of the residence when firefighters arrived and is being evaluated for injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Good yard sanitation in the fall is as important to year-long plant health as proper planting, watering, fertilizing and pruning are. This is particularly true for next year’s crop of vegetables and fruit. Remove or cut back all the plants in the vegetable garden that are done for the season.
