CCISD partners with local clinics to provide immunizations for students

The Amistad Community Health hosted a vaccination clinic on Tuesday, October 27 for CCISD elementary students.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Amistad Community Health Center hosted a vaccination clinic tomorrow for all Corpus Christi ISD Elementary students.

The event took place at Garcia Elementary School on Gollihar Road.

The vaccinations were for students who are uninsured, for students who have insurance they will receive a prescription to get those immunizations anywhere they're offered.

The health center was in their special "care van" which was donated to the clinic months ago.

“We are going to use the blue cross blue shield care van that was donated to us as well to go over there and be able to provide immunization to all these children,” said Program Coordinator April Loveless

Loveless says the clinic will be hosting more events like this for other Coastal Bend school districts.

One of the doctors helping administer those immunizations, Dr. Eric Baggerman says it is critical that everyone to get up to date with their vaccines.

"I want to encourage everyone to get vaccinated, it keeps us all as a healthy population and heads off disease such as the pandemic we're having now so it's super important,” said Dr. Baggerman.

The district will also be providing the service to middle and high schools students. The district is hosting 3 more clinics this week.
