Making An Impact: Havana Nights

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's Annual Chicago Gala - Saturday, November 9, 2019 at The Drake Hotel

Let yourself be swept away by the sights and sounds of colorful Cuba as The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation presents its annual Chicago gala, “Making An Impact: Havana Nights” on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 6 pm – 11 pm at Chicago’s elegant Drake Hotel, 140 E. Walton Pl. in Chicago. For tickets and additional information, visit www.ccfilgala.givesmart.com.

Indulge in some of Cuba’s cultural cuisine and enjoy an exclusive evening of cocktails, entertainment, dancing, auctions, raffles and a powerful program to combat IBD. Proceeds benefit the Foundation’s mission to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

This year’s gala honorees will be The Goldman Family – successful philanthropists, entrepreneurs and a pillar of the North Shore community – for their support of the Foundation. Guests will also hear an inspiring account from 15-year-old MacKenzie Graber, a young hero who’s turning her Crohn’s diagnosis into a career – and learn more about what the Foundation is doing to find cures. The 2019 Gala Chair is Brian Septon.

About the Foundation:

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.

Since our founding nearly five decades ago, the Foundation has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Together with our partners in the IBD medical and scientific communities, we’ve achieved numerous milestones, including the discover of the first gene for Crohn’s disease, new surgical techniques, and prescription drugs to help manage the live-altering symptoms patients must battle. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our professional education workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. We are very proud that the National Institutes of Health has commended us for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research."

Beyond research, the Foundation is collaborating with healthcare providers to improve IBD quality of care, as well as educating, supporting, and empowering patients and their caregivers through patient-centric education and advocacy programs.
