Manama: Three Asians shown in a video clip posted on social media beating up two Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens in Manama have been arrested, Bahrain's interior ministry said.
The ministry said the violent scene occurred in Qudhaibiya, one of the busiest areas in downtown Manama.
The detainees have been charged with the attack on the two Gulf nationals and referred to the public prosecution, the ministry added on its Twitter account.
The nationalities of the attackers or the victims were not given.
The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The brutal video widely circulated on the social media shows the Asians beating and kicking the two Gulf men, leaving them motionless on the road.
The clip was filmed late in the evening from a window or balcony across the street.
Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Bahrain, Abdullah Bin Abdul Malik Al Shaikh, told a Saudi daily that no Saudi national was attacked in Bahrain.
Thousands of GCC nationals travel to Bahrain, especially over the weekend, via the King Fahad Causeway linking Bahrain with Saudi Arabia.
On Thursday, the interior ministry said 270,067 people had entered Bahrain between February 25 and March 2.
Giving the weekly statistics, the Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up in the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports & Residence (GDNPR) said 220,350 travellers arrived via King Fahad Causeway, while 45,328 reached Bahrain through the airport and 4,389 through seaports.
The 25-kilometre manmade terrestrial link was opened on November 26, 1986 and has been used by millions of travelers and vehicles, making it one of the busiest traffic areas in the Arab world.
