LIST: All South Mississippi schools will be back in session Wednesday

George County schools sustained damage during Hurricane Zeta Wednesday night, forcing them to close their doors Friday. Superintendent Wade Whitney joins us.

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Schools in South Mississippi have started making announcements regarding classes after Hurricane Zeta tore through the area creating damage.

Here is a list of the schools that have made announcements so far.

Bay Waveland School District: Classes resume Tuesday. (Middle school athletics are canceled for Monday.)

Biloxi Public Schools: Classes resume Monday.

Catholic Diocese of Biloxi: All Catholic schools in Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, Pearl River, and Forrest Counties will be open Monday EXCEPT Holy Trinity in Bay St Louis (checking gas lines Monday morning) and St. James in Gulfport (no power).

George County School District: Students will return to school Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Please contact your local school if you have additional questions or concerns regarding your student’s ability to return to school.

Gulfport School District: Classes resume on Tuesday. School buses will run their regular routes. However, arrival times may be slower than normal due to congested roadways. If possible, parents are encouraged to bring their children to school for the remainder of the week.

Hancock County School District: Classes resume Tuesday. (Note: Students in K-8th grades will no longer do distance learning on Wednesdays.)

Harrison County School District: Harrison County School District will reopen on Wednesday. All campuses will resume normal operations, except Saucier Elementary. Because several buildings sustained damage from Hurricane Zeta, Saucier Elementary students will move to distance learning until further notice.

Jackson County School District: Classes resume Tuesday.

Long Beach School District: Schools will continue to be closed Tuesday. Schools will return to normal operations on Wednesday, provided schools have electric power and roads are safe for travel.

Moss Point School District: Classes resume on Monday.

Ocean Springs School District: Classes resume on Monday.

Pascagoula-Gautier School District: Classes resume on Monday.

Pass Christian School District: Classes resume Tuesday, pending restoration of power.

Pearl River County School District: Schools reopened Friday, Oct. 30.

Picayune School District: Classes resume on Monday.

Stone County School District: Classes resume on Monday.

MGCCC: All MGCCC employees will report to work on Monday, November 2nd. All offices will be open and available to work with students. Residence halls and dining hall will be open. Classes will resume on Tuesday.
