Vehicle pursuit leads to multiple charges for Del. man

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Rehoboth Beach man on multiple charges after he led them on a pursuit Monday evening.

At around 6:20 p.m., troopers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Concord Pond Road without a license plate tag or functioning taillights. Troopers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and continued driving down King Road and then onto Coverdale Road at a high rate of speed and committing numerous traffic violations.

The vehicle eventually stopped after sliding off the edge of Coverdale Road. The driver, 35-year-old Everett Burton,then got out of the car and fled on foot. He was located a short time later in the woods and was taken into custody.

Burton was charged with disregarding a police officer signal (felony), resisting arrest, driving while suspended or revoked, aggressive driving, and multiple traffic violations. He was held at SCI on $3,008 secured bond.
