Manama: Bahrain on Monday banned all political formations from contacts with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. “All political societies are barred from any form of contact with Lebanon’s Hezbollah organisation considered a terrorist organization,” the justice minister said Shaikh Khalid Bin Ali Al Khalifa said. The ban is effective the day after it is published in the official gazette, the minister said, quoted by Bahrain News Agency (BNA).. The elected lower chamber of the bicameral parliament has been pushing for putting the Lebanese militant group on a list of terrorist organisations. On Sunday Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa, the foreign minister, said that Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah was a terrorist and that saving Lebanon from him was a religious and national duty. “The terrorist Nasrallah declares war on his nation,” Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa posted on his Twitter account on Sunday. “Stopping him and rescuing Lebanon from his clutches is a national and religion duty for all of us,” the minister tweeted to his 140,269 followers. Shaikh Khalid’s remarks were posted hours after Nasrallah gave a speech in which he vowed that Hezbollah would stay in the Syrian war “to the end of the road” and bring victory to the regime of President Bashar Al Assad. “We will continue to the end of the road. We accept this responsibility and we will accept all sacrifices and expected consequences of this position,” he was quoting as saying. “We will be the ones who bring it victory, God willing.” The Gulf Cooperation Council that includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, has fully endorsed the Arab League in supporting the Syrian rebels against President Al Assad.
