2 charged with murder for shooting in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Two men are facing several charges following the death of a Toombs County man.

The GBI says 20-year-old Zacheriah Wright was found injured Monday on RT Lane in Montgomery County. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The GBI says preliminary autopsy results show Wright died from a single gunshot wound.

One suspect, 35-year-old Willie Rogers, is charged with malice murder, felony murder, and firearms charges. Rogers is currently in-custody at the Toombs County Detention Center. He was arrested by the Vidalia Police Department Monday on unrelated charges.

A second suspect, 35-year-old Ta’Lawrence Terraine Vickers, of Atlanta, was arrested in Augusta.

Vickers is charged with malice murder, felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, commission of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and participation in criminal gang activity.

The investigation is still underway.
