WHEELING, IL — A staff member of the Addolorata Villa assisted living facility in Wheeling has tested positive for coronavirus, according to a letter from Franciscan Ministries President and CEO Judy Amiano. The staff member last worked at the facility on March 24 and started to fall ill the next day. She was tested on Monday and received the positive results on Tuesday, the letter read.

"Because of the associate's adherence to our call-in policies and the infection control measures that had already been in place during the time that the associate was in the facility, there was time-limited exposure and/or contact with other staff or residents," the letter read. "This staff member had no direct care responsibilities anywhere on campus."

No additional residents or staff members are exhibiting signs of infection at this time, the letter said.

"We understand that this is a time of anxiety and unknowns for all involved," the letter said. "100 percent of our efforts are geared towards the safety of your loved ones. We are asking that you do not call the facility directly, as that will pull very limited resources away from caring for the residents."
