We appreciate all the farms, ranches and wholesale nurseries that have reduced pollution with the grants we awarded, particularly those who shared their stories with the Ventura County Star for this article.“(Farmworkers) want to work with us more with new equipment. They don’t want to work with old equipment which is polluting the air,” said Victor Lopez, who manages United Growers Berry Farms in Oxnard.
“Getting rid of the old equipment, replacing it with a cleaner-burning piece of equipment, that won't leave a big mess, it's a no-brainer,” said Fillmore rancher Bill Morris.
Raul Cuecuecha, who runs B&A Flowers in Somis with his family, said the new tractor will be larger and help speed up work. He added that this new tractor will also benefit other flower farmers nearby because those who are just starting and don’t own tractors often ask him for help and he goes to work on their land.
