(the "Company") (TSX-VENTURE:SPK) is pleased to announce that Mr. Faisal Al Mahroos from The Kingdom of Bahrain has agreed to join the Company's board of directors and serve as chairman. He will play a key role in guiding the Company's entry into the Middle East North Africa ("MENA") region. The nomination is pending review of his Personal Information Form by the TSX Venture Exchange which is being submitted concurrently for approval.
Mr. Faisal Almahroos has 35+ years' experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently he is a member of the board of directors of The Bahrain Petroleum Company ("Bahrain Petroleum") and Tatweer Petroleum Company. Prior to that, he held the positions of the Bahrain Petroleum's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Bahrain Lube Base Oil Company. Mr. Al-Mahroos joined Bahrain Petroleum as a petroleum engineer in 1976 and was promoted to various senior positions till he was appointed the Chief Executive in 2009. He played a key role in promoting Bahrain Field operations during the eighties which contributed significantly to enhancing the field's reserve and bolstering the national economy, in addition to his tangible contributions in exploration activities, the deep gas and enhanced production project of Bahrain Field, which culminated in the establishment of Tatweer Petroleum Company and execution of a number of key refining projects, including Lube Base Oil project in addition to other vital projects in refining and marketing. He also contributed to upgrading oil technologies and related sciences through organizing and chairing several oil forums in the Middle East. He presented many working papers and research on the oil industry, which continue to serve as a valuable reference in various oil and gas databases. His distinguished career has been crowned with winning Man of Year 2011 in oil industry, in recognition of his contributions and accomplishments. He is an active member in SPE and AAPG and acted as a Chairman of various technical events and committees of IPTC, MEOS, GEO,ADIPEC. Mr. Al Mahroos holds a Bachelor of science degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Tulsa, USA(1979).
