Framingham Coronavirus Cases Rise, Free Testing Extended

Framingham added 24 new coronavirus cases over the weekend, bringing the total active cases to 121.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The state's free "Stop the Spread" coronavirus testing effort will be extended into September in Framingham, and the city is reporting another double-digit rise in cases.

On Monday, Framingham reported 24 new coronavirus cases since Friday. The number of active cases is up to 121, the highest since early July. Framingham's death toll remained at 121 on Monday, with no new deaths over the weekend.

The state began opening testing sites in coronavirus hot spots across the state in July, with an initial end date of Aug. 14. The 17 testing sites will now remain open until Sept. 12, with a few exceptions.
