Manama: Several countries and organisations have expressed their condemnation over the attack and offered support to Bahrain.

Egypt on Saturday joined an international chorus of condemnation of the terror bombing that killed one Bahraini woman and injured three children.

“Egypt stands by the government and people of Bahrain as they face heinous terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and expresses its confidence in their ability to overcome those terrorist incidents that aim to undermine security and stability,” a spokesperson for the foreign ministry said.

A Bahraini teacher of Arabic, Fakhriya Al Musallam, was killed in the bombing while three children accompanying her were injured.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the alliance of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, stated it stood fully with Bahrain.

The cabinet of Saudi Arabia said that it strongly condemned the attack and that it stood by Bahrain in its drive to confront it.

In Kuwait, the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad sent a cable to King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa in which he expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation of the attack and reiterated his country’s support to all measures taken by Bahrain to preserve its security.

The UAE said that it condemned the attack, saying it was a terrorist crime aiming to terrify and threaten people.

In a statement, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the UAE also condemned all attempts to explain and incite terrorism.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, took to Twitter to condemn the attack.

“Violence and the shameless sectarian incitement in Bahrain are a foreign agenda, but the government’s determination and the king’s reforms will win over. Only the right matters remain,” he said.

In another tweet to his 259,436 followers, Dr Gargash said: “Violence and sectarianism reveal the truth about the opposition and its foreign affiliation”

“The Bahraini model is vivacious, inclusive and more advanced than the theological doctrinal model promoted by these [who support sectarianism],” he posted.

Qatar said that it “strongly condemned the criminal acts that clashed with all human values and religious teachings.”

Doha said in a statement issued by the foreign ministry that it stood fully with Bahrain and offered its full solidarity.

The Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Abdullah Al Shaikh said that the security of Bahrain was an integral part of Saudi Arabia and that Riyadh was equally keen on the security, peace and prosperity of Bahrainis and Saudis.

“The bonds between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are very close on the social, political, religious and popular levels, and when Bahrain is stable, then, Saudi Arabia is stable too,” he said in remarks published on Saturday. “Saudi Arabia has stated at the Cabinet meeting and through its council of senior scholars that it fully supported Bahrain’s security and stability.”

Jordan, Yemen, US, the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and several human rights groups have condemned the attack.
