Man Critically Injured In Crash Faces DUI Charge

A 52-year-old Hawthorn Woods man remains hospitalized following the crash in Hebron Township.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 52-year-old Hawthorn Woods man critically injured after he drove his motorcycle off a roadway southwest of Hebron Tuesday evening now faces a drunken driving charge, police said. Jeff Koszuta was flown by helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside following the single-vehicle crash just before 7 p.m. on Johnson Road north of Route 173 in Hebron Township, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office news release.

Authorities said Koszuta's 2018 Harley-Davidson was headed south on Johnson Road when it went off the roadway to the west and crashed while driving back onto the roadway.

Police say he was driving drunk when he crashed his motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet. He is listed in critical condition, and has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and fail to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

He is next expected in court on Oct. 20.
