Earlier this year Adidas and Noah released their first collaborative collection. That drop, which went on sale in August, consisted of summer-ready separates that were largely made from Primeblue, which is a high-performance recycled material made in part with Adidas’ Parley Ocean Plastic (upcycled plastic waste). As well as apparel, the German brand and the former Supreme creative director Brendon Babenzien released some ultra-sustainable SL20s as well as a revamp of the archival SL72 running kicks.

Now, the pair have released the second collection, which sees Noah take on another of Adidas’ archival footwear designs. The slim-fitting Gazelle, which was popular in the 1980s and early 1990s and are the downtime footwear of choice for the likes of Prince Harry, David Beckham, Jason Statham and Kanye West, has been given a bold update by way of a faux-pony hair upper in a cheetah print.

This sits in line with Noah’s Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, which is animal print-heavy and available to shop now. The kicks also feature those Adidas Gazelle signature details, such as a zigzag three stripes motif on the outer, a white leather heel tab and a white tongue, as well as Noah’s gold branding and cross logo.

Babenzien and the Adidas design team have also worked on another pair of Gazelles, which are equally as bold as the first offering. The low-top trainers now come in an orange, burgundy and forest-green camouflage colourway and have been constructed in a soft, lightweight canvas.

Of the latest drop, Babenzian said, “I think the silhouette is appealing to so many groups because of its simplicity. The Gazelles allow people to wear them in any number of ways and they take on the personality of the wearer.

“They are limitless. We thought it would be a fun challenge to try to capture the spirit of Gazelles in prints. The idea was to select prints that, like the Gazelles themselves, could defy any sort of specific definition. We felt that camo and cheetah did that.”

The two new pairs of Noah x Adidas Gazelles are available to buy from today at adidas.co.uk and noahny.com
