Nike's collaborations, whether with Travis Scott, Off-White or Supreme, are always roaring successes. The same goes for its partnerships with Sacai, the Japanese brand that has worked with the Oregon-based label since 2015.

Earlier this year the duo released its first LDWaffle Racer in a buttery off-white, and it sold out instantly, as did the follow-up black pair. Now, Nike and Sacai are about to drop the latest trainers in their ongoing and highly sought-after collaboration.

First seen in January as part of Chitose Abe and Sacai's Autumn/Winter 2020 Paris Fashion Week show, the Nike x Sacai VaporWaffle bridges the old and the new by fusing two Nike silhouettes: the record-breaking Vaporfly and the 1983 Pegasus running shoe.

The Vaporfly is Nike's ultimate running trainer, and has been worn by some of the world's best athletes. Case in point: Ethiopia’s Abadel Yeshaneh smashed Kenyan runner Joycline Jepkosgei’s records earlier this year when she ran the Ras Al Khaimah women’s half marathon event in the UAE in one hour, four minutes and 31 seconds. What's more, the kicks were also worn by Brigid Kosgei, who came second in that same race, breaking Jepkosgei’s record by two seconds.

Meanwhile, the Pegasus is a Nike icon that takes its name from the winged creature from Greek mythology and again was made for speed running. Designed by former Nike CEO Mark Parker and Bruce Kilgore (the man behind the Air Force 1) and released in 1982, it is still Nike's best-selling runner to this day.

The hybrid double-stacked Nike x Sacai VaporWaffle takes on both trainers' silhouettes and features a Waffle outsole, mesh uppers that play host to suede and leather overlays, dual Swooshes and double tongues that are now signature Sacai touches. The trainers will arrive in two colourways – black and white or fuschia, white and black, and will carry dual branding on the heel counter.

They're available from 6 November, and we'd set a reminder now, because the Nike x Sacai VaporWaffles are destined to fly again.
