Ikea is taking on the tech giants by adding another smart home product to its range of chargers, plugs and lightbulbs.

The Swedish flatpack favourite has confirmed they'll be selling smart blinds in their UK stores from early February 2019 – and at a more affordable price than many of the automated window coverings already on the market.

There are two styles to choose from: KADRILJ – which starts at £90 – and the FYRTUR, which will set you back around £110. Both are only currently available in grey, although one is slightly more opaque than the other.

Both blinds are programmed to work with voice activated technology like Alexa, Google's Home Assistant and Ikea's very-own TRADFRI smart kit. You'll also be able to let in more light, or create a cosy haven from the dark, remotely via a smartphone app.

Ikea say the blinds will be available in-store, and online, from early next month.
