A Cameron man died after his plane crashed in the woods Monday near Cranes Creek Road, according to a news release from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Grant Fitzgerald Jr., the 66-year-old pilot, had been reported missing before he was found dead in the wreckage by sheriff’s deputies, the release said. Fitzgerald was reportedly flying from an airport in Camden, South Carolina, to a private airstrip in Vass.
