NORTHWOOD | Charles Dennis Hildman, 84, of Northwood formerly of Mason City, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at Manly Specialty Care in Manly, IA. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood with Father Gehling officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Denny was born Nov. 7, 1932, the son of Tony and Oma Hildman at his childhood home of Prairie Township, Kossuth County, Iowa.
A graduate of Bradgate High School in Bradgate, IA. Denny attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. A salesman by trade, Denny started out selling shoes but eventually focused on furniture working for several local stores over a 40-year career including Davidson’s, Tyler Ryan’s, McGregor’s, and Brick’s. In retirement he returned to shoes (cowboy boots and western wear) at the Boothouse in Manly and was the treasurer for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to sales Denny loved his farmland roots. He owned and operated Mason City Eggs for a short period, boarded and raised farm animals, and was an avid gardener. Denny was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
Denny was preceded in death by his: parents Tony and Oma Hildman; siblings Lois, Kenny, Larry and Joyce.
He is survived by his: wife of nearly 50 years Glenda; sister-in-law Ruth; children and grandchildren; Phil and Tanya Hildman and their children Cody, Noah and Sarah; Tony Hildman and Jean Ranum and their daughter Carrie; Sara Hildman; Mitch Hildman and his daughter Hadass; Jessica and Diane Hildman-Ubber and their children Walker and Justyce.
