Democratic Primary In Maricopa County: Coronavirus Changes Polls

Maricopa County officials are making changes to the voting process in response to the threat of the new coronavirus.

PHOENIX, AZ — In response to the threat of the new coronavirus, officials in Maricopa County have announced a number of changes for those planning to vote in the state's presidential primary on Tuesday.

The county has extended drop-off hours for voters with early ballots until 9 p.m. tonight at five of the county's emergency voting locations.

  • Maricopa County Elections Department – Mesa, 222 E. Javelina Ave. in Mesa (8 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
  • Mesa Community College at Red Mountain – Mesa, 7110 E. McKellips Rd. (8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
  • Queen Creek Unified School District Office, 20217 E. Chandler Heights Rd in Queen Creek (8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
  • Surprise City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza in Surprise (8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
  • Tolleson Council Chambers, 9555 W. Van Buren St. in Tolleson (8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.)

Additionally, the Maricopa County Elections office in Phoenix offers 24-hour access to its ballot drop box.

The county has already made changes to where citizens will vote on Tuesday. Voters are no longer required to vote at their assigned polling place. Instead, voters may cast their ballots at any of the county's Vote Centers. The list of Vote Centers is available at BeBallotReady.vote.
