Serbian director Emir Kusturica has been named head of the Shanghai International Film Festival’s competition jury.
The event’s vice secretary general Fu Wenxia made the announcement on Saturday night at a reception during the Berlin International Film Festival.
The 19th Shanghai Film Fest is set to run June 11-19.
The appointment of Kusturica, a two-time Palme d’Or winner, follows that of Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev, who led the jury last year that awarded the fest’s Golden Goblet for best film to Franco-Belgian pic The Night Watchman.
Other previous jury heads include Luc Besson, Tom Hooper, Barry Levinson and Danny Boyle.
