Suspect arrested over alleged school threat in Colorado, classes for Alamosa School District cancelled Thursday

Alamosa police were able to quickly identify and track down a student who reportedly made a school threat on social media.

Police received a tip through Safe2Tell around 8 Wednesday evening. Police were able to identify and arrest the suspect. The exact charges against the suspect were not available Wednesday night.

An alert went out to parents and guardians from the school district stating classes would be canceled for the Alamosa School District on Thursday. The public would be provided an update Thursday evening.

11 News called the school district for more information on Thursday, but the superintendent wasn't available at the time. A member of the district's office stated schools would be back to a normal schedule on Friday.

The police chief in Alamosa strongly encouraged students to submit tips through Safe2Tell on all potential threats. You can call 1-877-542-7233 to make a report.
