Viva Bahrain introduces new value-added broadband packages [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Bahrain's third largest mobile operator by subscribers, Viva Bahrain, has launched new 'value' broadband packages over its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular network, targeting home users. Available with or without contracts, plans include free additional sharing SIMs, unlimited calls to Viva numbers, discounted international call rates and free broadband devices – an LTE home router, Mi-Fi 'personal hotspot' device or a Wi-Fi dongle. The operator's website says that new monthly data-only packages cost BHD5 (USD13) for 10GB data or BHD10 for 25GB (with or without a contract), although requiring a Viva post-paid subscription (on any tariff). Top-up deals on offer include BHD3 for 1GB of data and BHD5 for 3GB, valid for 15 days. Additional options include a three-month duration plan with 3GB monthly data costing a total upfront fee of BHD10, while customers can opt for a six-month plan (4GB monthly data) for an upfront total fee of BHD18, or pay an upfront BHD35 fee for twelve month's LTE connection with 5GB monthly allowance. Viva Bahrain commercially launched 4G LTE services in January 2014, claiming at launch to offer wider national LTE coverage than longer-established rivals Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) and Zain Bahrain.
