Dubai: Dnata said on Sunday it has been awarded a contract to provide shore excursion to Bahrain for cruise passengers travelling with AIDA Cruises, the German cruise line operator.

Dnata, a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, said in an emailed statement it expects to serve 25,000 to 30,000 passengers over the next 12 months under the agreement.

One of AIDA Cruises vessels that will be sailing the Gulf is the 2,300 passenger capacity AIDAstella, the statement said.

“The partnership with AIDA Cruises fits in with our strategic focus to provide premium holiday products and services in the Kingdom‎ of Bahrain and further cement our position as a leader in cruise handling in the region,” stated Ashley Correa, general manager, dnata Bahrain.

Dnata is the largest cruise passenger handling destination management company in the Middle East, according to the statement. It has provided over 660,000 guest transfers and over 300,000 shore excursions since 2020.

Dnata’s Cruise Manager Jasem Zaiton stated the agreement will further position the Gulf and wider Middle East as a “sought after cruise destination.”
