Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)'s sponsorship of The Third Untangle Autism Conference provides a tangible demonstration of the company's commitment to support initiatives that enrich the quality of life for those with special needs, and enhance learning opportunities that would help them become productive members of society.

The Third Untangle Autism Conference - held at The Sheraton Hotel Bahrain on April 3 & 4, 2013 - was organised by the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties (BSCBCD), and brings together educators, researchers, service providers and practitioners, individuals with autism disorder, families and caregivers.

Alba's Chief Support Functions Officer, Basem Al Sharqi and Senior Manager for Human Resources & Public Relations, Abdul Rahman Al Janahi met the Board Directors of BSCBCD, Dr Adel Kamal and Dr Sahar Juma to express Alba's sponsorship support for the conference as part of the company's corporate social responsibility.

Commenting on Alba's backing for the two-day conference, the company's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Elham Al Eid said:

"Events such as the Third Untangle Autism Conference play a key role in dispelling myths and shattering misunderstandings about the nature of autism as well as in seeing how some of the latest research and development are paving the way towards enabling people with autism to lead productive lives. Our support for the conference is part of our initiatives as a corporate citizen to raise awareness of this disorder, explore restorative strategies and celebrate achievements."

Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties - organisers of the two-day conference - operates Alia for Early Intervention, a dedicated educational centre for children who are autistic and those diagnosed with physical or mental condition that affects cognitive, communication, social or emotional and physical development.
