Patriots trade up to boost defensive line, take Christian Barmore at No. 38
The New England Patriots selected defensive tackle Christian Barmore out of Alabama in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 38th overall.
New England traded up to acquire the pick, dealing pick No. 46 and two fourth-rounders (No. 122 and No. 139) to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Bill Belichick has now selected two Alabama prospects in as many rounds after drafting quarterback Mac Jones 15th overall.
Barmore joins Lawrence Guy, Byron Cowart, and Davon Godchaux in the Patriots' interior front four.

You won't find a more complete player at the position this year. The 21-year-old is a natural disruptor, standing out in a relatively weak defensive tackle class. If Barmore can refine his pass-rush technique in the NFL, there won't be many offensive linemen who can slow him down.
