Volleyball roundup: Paynesville Bulldogs take down Royalton

Read how Paynesville knocked off the Royals for a four-set home victory

PAYNESVILLE — Paynesville improved its record to 2-0 early in the volleyball season after prevailing with a 3-1 victory against Royalton during a Central Minnesota Conference match Saturday from Paynesville High School.

The Bulldogs took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-11 before closing out the Royals by a 25-14 margin in the fourth set. Royalton won 25-21 in the third set.

Paynesville’s Emma Stanley put up an impressive showing with 34 digs. Tied with Natalie Riley and Kyleign Tangen for the team lead, Stanley had three ace serves. Tangen contributed a Bulldog-high 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Riley added 10 kills and eight digs.

Paynesville next plays at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
