The parade of new solar farms continues in Chautauqua County, with a Spanish clean-energy company planning a new facility in the Town of Pomfret.
RIC Development wants to construct a 3-megawatt solar array on 24.5 acres of forest land at 4545 Van Buren Road, currently owned by Pomfret Estates, according to its application to the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency for $2.8 million in tax breaks.
The $3.1 million project would be owned and operated by New York City-based RIC, which is part of RIC Energy of Madrid, Spain. One independent contractor would be hired to maintain the facility, at $60,000 to $70,000 annually.
RIC is seeking $140,502 in sales tax breaks, $34.931 in mortgage recording tax breaks and a 25-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes on the property that would save $2.05 million.
