Jeff Smith is the winner of a drawing at Zarzour's Restaurant on the Southside for a set of the Chattanooga Photo Books, including the new book Chattanooga in Old Photos, sponsored by Chattanoogan.com.

Mr. Smith, an employee of Tuftco, is one of the Zarzour's regulars.

Chattanooga in Old Photos is the fourth book in the collection called the Chattanooga Photo Books. The others are The Remarkable Stokes Collection, Railroads in and Around Chattanooga and Paul Hiener's Historic Chattanooga.

All of the books are available for sale at Zarzours, which is on Rossville Avenue behind the Fire Hall #1 on Main Street.

John Wilson, publisher, said together the books contain around 2,000 early photos of the city and none have been duplicated as far as he can tell. Some of the landmarks are shown in different views, but not the exact same photo. Each of the books is fully indexed. Mr. Wilson said, "The idea is on many of the landmarks, industries, businesses and notable homes in early Chattanooga, you would be able to find very many of them in at least one of these books. A fifth volume next year is expected to complete the series (we think)."

The new book includes almost 300 pages. It features hundreds of scenes from downtown, local landmarks, rivers and streams, parades, medical, banks, churches, entertainment, hotels, motels and apartments, restaurants, parks and cemeteries and auto and livery.

Zarzour's is on Rossville Avenue behind the Fire Hall #1 on Main Street. Other books in the Chattanooga Photo Series can be purchased there from Shannon Fuller as well.

Cost for each of the books is $35, which includes the sales tax.  Those who want the books mailed to them can send $40 to John Wilson, PO Box 2331, Chattanooga, Tn., 37409.

Please make checks out to John Wilson - not to Chattanoogan.com.

Mr. Wilson will be at Zarzour's for the Mainx24 festival on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to autograph copies of the books.
