Thefts Reported At Church, YMCA, Multiple Stores, Autos: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

WARRANT ARREST

Arturo Molina, 32, of the 1600 block of Oakwood Avenue, Highland Park, is accused of having a bond forfeiture warrant from the Wheeling Police Department, and was arrested following a traffic stop at 6:58 a.m. Sept. 21 at Waukegan and Dundee roads. He was released after posting $5,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Oct. 7 in Rolling Meadows.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Laura T. Feret, 30, of the 3500 block of Whirlaway Drive, Northbrook, is accused of driving while license suspended, and was arrested following an investigation into a traffic crash at 8 a.m. Sept. 21 at Willow and Shermer Roads. She was released after posting $2,500 bond, and assigned a court date of Nov. 23.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • A person reported at 4:03 p.m. Sept. 17 that someone had removed an outdoor speaker and mounting bracket from The Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 block of Shermer Road.
  • A person called police at 6:59 a.m. Sept. 24 to report that their watch was taken by someone while they were working out at the YMCA, 2700 block of Techny Road.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

  • A person called police at 8:32 a.m. Sept. 18 to report two males spray-painted anti-police graffiti on the rear loading dock at Neiman-Marcus, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road.
  • An officer on routine at 7:45 p.m. Sept. 22 observed that someone had used spray paint to place lettering on a sign at Walters Avenue and Shermer Road.

THREATENING TELEPHONE CALLS

A resident of Shermer Road reported at 12:42 p.m. Sept. 18 they received a threatening phone call from an unknown person.

BATTERY

While monitoring the area of Shermer Road and Walters Avenue at 6:13 p.m. Sept. 18 they saw a verbal argument between the driver of a vehicle in traffic and several people in the crowd. The driver of the vehicle got out of their vehicle and engaged a group of people who were protesting. The driver then attempted to take a banner out of the hands of one of the subjects. The officer was able to resolve the situation with both parties at the time.

FRAUD

A Washington Drive resident reported at 6:47 p.m. Sept. 18 that in checking their credit card accounts they observed several unauthorized charges were placed in the amount of $955.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A person called police at 9:19 p.m. Sept. 18 to report that a sign was damaged by someone at Shermer Road and Walters Avenue. The damage consisted of a metal number plate being bent backwards.
  • A person reported at 4:21 p.m. Sept. 22 that someone damaged two spotlights in front of a sign at Walters Avenue and Shermer Road.

TRESPASSING

A resident in the 1300 block of Rosemary Lane reported that between Sept. 18-19, someone entered their residence, which is being renovated without permission.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Officers responded to the area of Walters Avenue and Shermer Road at 10:53 p.m. Sept. 19 for a report of several males believed to be in their 20s possibly damaging a sign. Upon arrival, officers observed a cloth material covering the sign A check of the area for the males met with negative results, and when they returned to the sign, the covering had been removed.

BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 0-100 block of Caribou Crossing, called police to report during the overnight hours of Sept. 21 someone entered an unlocked vehicle which was in the complainant’s driveway, and used the garage door opener to enter the garage. While inside the garage, someone entered another unlocked vehicle which had the keys inside, and took this vehicle without permission.
  • A person reported at 7:34 a.m. Sept. 24 that someone had entered three trailers during the overnight hours and removed various pieces of lawn equipment from each trailer at G Perez Landscaping. 1800 block of Techny Road.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 10:40 a.m. Aug. 22 three women were observed removing numerous clothing items from the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee of Ulta Cosmetics, 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 12:18 p.m. Sept. 24 to report three women walked into the store and proceeded to the fragrance aisle. The women then placed items in their carts and proceeded to leave the store without paying for the items. They were observed entering a vehicle then leaving the area.
  • An employee at Ulta Cosmetics, 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 3:56 p.m. Sept. 18 to report two women left the store without paying for Chanel and Dior perfumes. The women were seen leaving the area in a vehicle.

CIVIL DISPUTE

A person called police at 11:27 a.m. Sept. 23 to report they had purchased a vehicle from Sax Motorsports, 1800 block of Techny Road, in July and still had not received their title or registration paperwork for the vehicle.

THEFT FROM AUTOMOBILE

A person reported at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 20 that someone had entered their car, which had an open rear door window, and removed an i-Pad that was on the seat at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road.
