Hall of Fame: Brainerd Warriors to induct 6 individuals April 30

Mark Tuchscherer, Jeff Ramey, Colby Ring, Kyle Crocker, Samantha Smith and Hilary (Smith) Dahlen will be inducted into the Brainerd Warriors Hall of Fame at the all-sports banquet April 30.

Mark Tuchscherer, Jeff Ramey, Colby Ring, Kyle Crocker, Samantha Smith and Hilary (Smith) Dahlen will be inducted into the Brainerd Warriors Hall of Fame at the all-sports banquet April 30.

Their induction will raise membership in the hall to 178 individuals.

Tickets, priced at $10 apiece, are on sale through April 27 in the Brainerd High School Activities Office between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Following are profiles of each hall of famer:

Samantha Smith

Category: Player

BHS: Class of 2009

High School Accomplishments:

• 14 letters in gymnastics, diving, track and field,

• All-conference 11 times in three sports,

• Nine state competitions in three sports with two podium (top 8) finishes,

• Upon graduation held school records in three sports,

• Three-time MVP in two sports,

• 2009 BHS Female Athlete of Year.

 

Post High School & Professional accomplishments

• Winona State University varsity gymnastics (2009-2013), national team competitor,

• Graduate of Winona State University, degree in Communication, Arts, and Literature Education,

• Taught in Denver for three years before moving back to Minnesota; currently teaching English at Minnetonka High School, pursuing master's degree in Educational Leadership from St. Mary's University.

Jeff Ramey

• Baseball: three-year starter, three-time all-conference, first-team all-state, Class 3A state player of year.

Mark Tuchscherer

• Tennis: five-time letterwinner, five-time all-conference, played No. 1 singles for three seasons, believed to be in top two for career wins in school history, two-time state participant, placed fourth in Class 2A state doubles tournament in 1998, which remains highest state finish in school history, academic All-CLC, BHS Male Athlete of Year 1998,

• BHS Triple A Award winner (academics, arts, athletics).

• Tennis: Played four years of varsity tennis, All-MIAC, played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles,

• Track and field: three-time letterwinner, two-time all-section, two-time all-state, three-time Class 2A state meet participant, all-conference,

• Hockey: three-time letterwinner, 2009 section All-Star Game participant.

 

University of Minnesota-Duluth athletic accomplishments:

• Football: Member of 2010 Division II national championship team, two-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, 2012 Daktronics All-Super Region 3 Team, 2013 Daktronics All-Super Region 3 team, 2013 AFCA All-America Team, 2013 Associated Press Little All-America Team (Division II and III football), ranks third highest in total tackles at UMD, overall team record 47-7 in four years at UMD.

 

Hilary (Smith) Dahlen

BHS: Class of 2005

BHS Accomplishments:

• Athletics: Warrior Female Athlete of Year 2005,

• Swimming: four-year letterwinner, member of four section runner-up teams, member of two conference championship teams, Warrior teams compiled 31-7 dual meet record,

• Hockey: five-year letterwinner, all-conference 2005, Hobey Baker High School Character Award 2005,

• Softball: three-year letterwinner, team Section 8-3A runner-Up 2005, North Subsection 8-3A champions, all-conference 2005, scholar all-conference 2005.

 

Post high school accomplishments:

• 2009-2011: Minnesota State University Moorhead, graduated in 2011 with Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees with coaching minor,

• 2006-2008: Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D., played one season of Division II softball (2006-2007), ranks sixth in school history for number of hits in single-season.
