World Oceans Day Plastics Panel at Monmouth University June 8

Public invited to join conversation on how to keep the ocean plastic-free

WEST LONG BRANCH — The Monmouth University Urban Coast Institute (UCI) will host a panel discussion on plastic pollution in the ocean and steps citizens can take to help the problem on June 8, celebrated internationally as World Oceans Day. The event will take place from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on campus in the Magill Commons Club Dining Room.

In conjunction with Monmouth University’s Reunion Weekend festivities, the panel will include two alumni and environmental leaders: Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed Director Sandra Meola and Clean Ocean Action D.W. Bennett Fellow for Coastal Advocacy Zack Karvelas. The discussion will be moderated by UCI Director Tony MacDonald.

The event is free and open to the public; in lieu of a registration fee, attendees can make a donation to the UCI Scholarship Fund. Refreshments will be served. For planning purposes, attendees are asked to register at www.monmouth.edu/alumni/reunion-weekend/. For more information or questions, contact uci@monmouth.edu.
