Until a month ago the Pakistani Air Force was showing in the list of confirmed participants on the Bahrain Air Show website. Parking bays were reserved for two Pakistani Air Force JF17 Thunders at Sakhir Air base where the International Air show will take place this week.

The Indian Air force made a late decision to send their LCA Tejas to directly compete and expose Pakistan's JF17 fighter jet. This was the first time the (Made in China) Pakistani JF17 would participate and perform in an international event like the one in Bahrain. International media, military watchdogs, analysts and critics are all expected to be at the show judging every aircraft and their abilities. Fearing a major blowout by critics of the low cost, cheap quality Chinese made JF17 Thunder that China copied from the vintage Mig21, Pakistan decided to pull out from the Bahrain International Air show and save itself from humiliation at a global scale.

Both the LCA Tejas and the JF17 Thunder were allotted the same exhibition pad (Number 15) to park the planes in — and compete in terms of flight performance at the show. There were some doubts about the SinoPak JF17 taking to the skies, now it will not even be seen in Bahrain. Discretion being better part of exhibiting a fairly antique combat aircraft, it would have been extremely difficult for the PAF to sing their plane’s praises and maintain a straight face while seeing the 4+ Generation LCA Tejas pull tight 8G turns above them, and otherwise impress with its maneuverability and stealth attributes that the Thunderbird can’t possibly match.

The air show would have highlighted the generational difference and technological gap between these two aircraft. The PAF is apparently prepared to forfeit the nonrefundable half a million dollars to reserve exhibition space than risk exposing their j fighter jet to expert criticism, and negative contrasting with the LCA Tejas. During and after the International Air Show in Bahrain, the world will never compare the Made in India LCA Tejas with the j JF17 Thunder, but instead the LCA will be compared with the likes of Swedish Grippen, UAE's F16 Block 60 and many other modern fighter jets who participate at the event.

Tall claims by Pakistan that it would export the JF17 to Sri Lanka have been openly rubbished by the govt. in Colombo. Now the only countries that would probably buy the outdated, cheap and low cost Made in China JF17 would be poor African countries that can get a flying toy with a little bit of money.ow the world knows why not a single JF17 has been inducted into the Chinese Air Force inspite of being Made in China. 108 Aircraft are now confirmed to be participating at the Bahrain International Airshow

Hiu,

That is a very good decision by the PAF-----the LCA had all the time to judge and analyze what the JF17 was doing in the previous air shows----.

So----the paf did the right thing---they also want to see and analyze what the performance of the LCA is going to be like and then adjust their performance and display accordingly in the future air shows.

It would not have been a wise decision to go into this show---. Wonderful job---at least someone with brains is thinking tactics and strategy.

You sir , must be a lawyer.I love your reasoning .There's a phrase for this in Uttar Pradesh - "Fisal gaye to har har gange."
It means - if you happen to slip by the banks of the ganges , you could always exclaim loudly - " O Ganges , I prostrate myself seeking your munificence."

It's also called making a virtue out of a necessity .but Bahrain can happen in a few years , by which time you'd have the JF - 17 - Block - 100000001.We'd probably be flying the Tejas MK- 2 then .PAF could still exercise the same option as it has now & you could still claim then what you're claiming now.

Life goes on.

thanks for your POV

please make follow-up posts once the LCA performs and then let us know how well it exposed the shortcomings of JF-17.

you are already on the roll since LCA has beaten its opponent by making it disappear from the airshow.
after the airshow LCA will become 4.5++ aircraft and then there will be praise from all around in the world.
make sure you keep us posted boy.
we are counting on you.

Please refrain from starting chutiya threads.

Thanks!
yaar webby there is nothing chutiya about this thread. pathetic was the appropriate word
specially when he used antique for JF-17 and 4+ generation for LCA in a single sentence.

. its a normal mindset of these innocent and simpleton LCA fanboys.. it just made me laugh. lets see how he backs up his claims once the airshow is over.

do we have to prove any more to the world? after we have performed in France, Dubai, Turkey and China already? looking at its displays from the moment it takes off and the remarks by the western commentators .. all I can say is ... not bad for an "antique" aircraft eh?

you said, are too wise (code for old) to fall for the trap of flame bait lol... some of his parts are open flame bait invite. but never mind he did his duty.
its a best chance to get a very close and detailed recording of LCA performance. after looking what JF-17 has pulled off in the successive shows... I have no doubt that LCA doesnt have anything up its delta wing that FJ-17 cant do
