BIRMINGHAM, AL — Tax season is here, as people start rounding up their W-2's and figuring out how they will file their taxes this year. This time of year tends to shift focus to financial matters, which is why the University of Alabama at Birmingham will start monthly tax and financial counseling sessions beginning in February.

Wealthy Weekends, as the program is known, is a workshop providing participants an opportunity to complete their taxes free of charge with a tax professional, as well as sign up for a financial counseling session.

Sessions will be held Feb. 1, March 7, April 4 and May 2. Each session costs $10, or pay $30 in advance for all five sessions. Registration is open to the public. For more information, call Jalete Nelms at 205-996-0884.
