3 More Coronavirus Cases In Darien

The growth in Darien cases almost slows to a halt, far less than the jump in DuPage County as a whole.

DARIEN, IL — Darien saw just three more cases of the coronavirus in the last week, according to Sunday's figures from DuPage County's health department. The week before, the number jumped by a third.

Darien's increase last week, which amounted to 4 percent, was far lower than DuPage County's 26 percent. The previous week, the county saw a 50 percent increase. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population and 1.8 percent of the coronavirus cases.

As of Sunday, Darien had 3.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 1.8 in Western Springs, 3.3 in Clarendon Hills, 3.5 in Elmhurst, 3.6 in La Grange Park, 5 in DuPage County, 7.9 in La Grange and 9.2 in Hinsdale.

Over the last week, Hinsdale saw its coronavirus cases jump 30 percent to 163, according to health authorities. That increase was largely driven by the spike in cases at ManorCare of Hinsdale nursing home, which now has 147 cases. (The state includes presumed cases in nursing home totals, but such cases may not be part of the overall number in the town.)

In DuPage County, Addison is leading the pack with 412 coronavirus cases as of Sunday, or 11.3 cases per thousand. West Chicago follows with 336 cases, or 12.4 per thousand.
