(SAN ANTONIO, TX) In the days leading up to Monday night's NCAA Tournament opener, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball coach Maria Marchesano called Maryland "Historically good.".

The Terrapins proved her right...over and over...as they rolled to a 98-45 opening round win over their in-state rivals.

Here's the historic part: their 53 point margin of victory was the largest by any team from Maryland...male or female...in the NCAA Tournament, and their 45 points allowed is their lowest total of the season.

The Terps outscored the Mountaineers 25-4 in the second quarter. Let that sink in: they held an opponent, in an NCAA Tournament game, to only four points in a quarter. The mind reels.

“I thought once we settled in and especially when you look at the second quarter, I mean that’s as dominant as you can get, you know, 25-4 lead there in the second quarter," said Frese. " And then I thought we were able to really get in a great rhythm from there,”

Maryland had five players in double figures, led by All-Big Ten guard Ashley Owusu's 22. Diamond Miller added 19. Forwards Chloe Bibby and Mimi Collins added 13 and 12 respectively.

It was Maryland's 13th consecutive win and lifted their record to 25-2.

With the win, the 2nd seeded Terps now advance to a matchup with 7th seeded Alabama on Wednesday.

If you haven't seen this team play, find the time.

They're magical.
