Former Village Voice critic J. Hoberman has been named chief film critic of Blouin ARTINFO, Louise Blouin, chairman and CEO of Louise Blouin Media, said Friday.
Hoberman will join film editor Graham Fuller at the publication.
“Hoberman and Fuller join an already outstanding team of internationally recognized arts journalists,” said Benjamin Genocchio, VP of editorial at Louise Blouin Media. “With staff in the U.K., France, Germany, China, Brazil, Russia, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and India, we are building the world’s premiere online destination for coverage of the arts and culture.”
Hoberman, who was formerly the senior film critic at the Village Voice, will be contributing weekly film reviews and features for Blouin ARTINFO, beginning next week.
Known for his distinctly intellectual style, Hoberman has helped pioneer cinema criticism since his first review in 1983. He has taught at New York University, Harvard University and Cooper Union, and has served two terms on the New York Film Festival selection committee, from 1982-1984 and 2007-2009. Throughout his celebrated career, Hoberman has also curated film exhibitions at P.S. 1, the Museum of the Moving Image and The Jewish Museum.

Fuller will now additionally write film market news and reviews features for the website, and continue his blog, The Cutting Room, on Blouin ARTINFO. He’s also the editor of “Potter on Potter” and “Loach on Loach,” both published by Faber and Faber.

This film expansion follows the recent rebranding of Blouin ARTINFO and the debut of Blouin ARTINFO Australia, Blouin ARTINFO Hong Kong and Blouin ARTINFO UK. Additional international versions of Blouin ARTINFO will be launched throughout the year in other countries, to be announced later.
