"Claire-ity" On Emmy Ballot For 'Outstanding Short Form Comedy'

Co-Executive producer of Emmy Award Winning 'Friday Night Lights,' Patrick Massett produced the TV Series with his wife Marybeth Massett.

(LOS ANGELES) - Marybeth Massett, known for “The Social Network, and now the creator and one of the stars of “Claire-ity” and her husband, Patrick Massett, Co-Executive Producer of “Friday Night Lights,” “The Finder” and “The Blacklist” are contenders on the Emmy nomination ballot for their Malibu based Television production, “Claire-ity.”

The TV Series actors include Tom Jenkins, Marybeth Massett, and Linda Purl (“Happy Days” and “The Office”) who are on the Emmy nomination ballot for ‘Outstanding Actor/Actresses' for the short form comedy.

“Claire-ity” is an outrageous and poignant political satire set in Malibu, California, about an ultra conservative woman who enters politics after her husband Chester leaves her for a progressive liberal activist. According to starring actor, Tom Jenkins, “Claire-ity satirizes the “left” and the “right,” in a way which evokes humor, to add a bit of levity to how many can seemingly appear to be polar opposites in relation to their viewpoints.” Continuing, “The show is funny, and done in a way where extremes are shown for the sake of finding humor, in an otherwise serious seeming climate of political extremes. The core of the show is still respectful at its’ core. The show is written and produced in a way where extremes are shown in a way which breeds hilarity.”

Marybeth Massett, in addition to being the creator of “Claire-ity,” wrote and co- produced the show, along with her husband, Co-writer/ Co-Executive Producer Patrick Massett. Tom Jenkins portrays Claire’s husband , Chester Vanguard in the series, stating, “After our marriage falls apart due to my finding a serious liberal with whom I find a connection, ultra-conservative Claire Vanguard decides to enter the world of politics, and then, “complete and utter wackiness ensues.”

Jenkins felt immediately compelled to accept his role as Chester. “I had attended classes with Marybeth Massett, states Jenkins, and I worked on a previous project with her. When she approached me to be a part of the project, I read the first scene and literally belly laughed, so yeah, I was in." Concluding, "Marybeth’s way with words for TV brings humor, on point comedic timing and wit, and she leaves room for improvisation, so we all have a blast with this production.”

Jenkins describes the cast and crew as “a talented film family,” Patrick and Marybeth Massett’s daughter Ellie Massett is cast in the role of Heather Vanguard in the series, and Rose Massett directed episodes five and six of “Claire-ity.” The Massett’s nephew, Michael Klapp, also directed.
Alexandra Grey known for her role as Melody Barnes on 'Empire' is "brilliantly funny in the series,” states Jenkins.

"Claire-ity” is produced by Harvester Road, LLC. Claire-ity is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play. Television Academy members can find all episodes on the viewing platform.

Jenkins concludes,
“We gratefully thank the Television Academy for all of their support and guidance in the Emmy voting submission process. We are proud of our production, and the humor it organically generates from witty and entertaining dialogue, bringing a whole lot of levity to an otherwise serious political climate. By showing “the left,” and “the right” extremes in a humorous way, we hope the show not only entertains, yet bridges the gaps and allows for communication.”

Harvester Road, LLC, and the cast and crew of “Claire-ity” support a charitable organization called “Mending Kids.” “Mending Kids” recently launched a campaign entitled, ‘MASKrAID’ which aims to provide much needed masks to educators and children from vulnerable communities when they return to school. ‘MASKrAID’ is a campaign for children in the U.S. whose health care needs are suffering from the financial devastation of the pandemic.
