As Jerry said in his recent Wireless Over-Ear Headphone Buyer's Guide, listening to personal audio at excessive loudness levels over any extended period of time can be dangerous. You knew that, of course. And you either have enough impulse control to listen responsibly, or the right to endure the consequences. But with kids it's a different story. That's what makes Puro Sound Labs' volume-limiting headphones such a hit with parents who want to get their little ones hooked on the hobby, but safely, by setting a cap at 85dBA, no matter how high the little munckins crank the volume.

Now Puro is back with a new design that adds active noise cancellation to the equation. The PuroQuiet--in your choice of two colors--is available now for $199.99.

More from Puro Sound Labs:

Puro Sound Labs, the world's leading manufacturer of premium, safe children's headphones, today introduced PuroQuiet, their latest studio-grade wireless headphones for kids, featuring active noise cancellation. The new headphones employ many of the outstanding features that earned Puro Sound numerous awards for their original BT-2200 kid's volume-limited headphones, including high-quality aluminum construction, plush noise-isolating ear-pads, the outstanding clarity of the Puro Balanced Response curve, and digital signal processing (DSP) enabled volume-limiting to prevent damaging volume levels. In addition to the sleek new design, the PuroQuiet headphones add the Active Noise Cancellation feature found on high-end headphones that suppresses ambient noise levels and provides a superior listening experience in even the loudest of environments. Additional features include the latest Bluetooth profiles for CD-like quality wireless audio, a high-sensitivity microphone for taking calls or gaming with friends, and up to 16-hours of active battery life.

"Studies show that listening to music above 85dB for extended periods of time can cause permanent hearing damage, and the louder the volume, the quicker the damage can occur," notes Puro Sound Labs founder and CEO, Dave Russell. He comments that, "Puro Sound Labs was created to address the world health epidemic of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

after my wife and I became aware that our daughter had hearing damage at a young age, likely as a result of listening with her headphones too loud. We want kids to enjoy great-sounding music, but we also want to be sure that they are listening at safe levels. We're excited to extend the performance level of our Healthy Ears products with Active Noise Cancellation for even great ambient noise reduction and improved sound quality."

With children listening to portable electronics on headphones more and more, noise-induced hearing loss is a growing concern. Parents want to know that their kids are listening to music, movies, and games at safe levels that won't damage their child's hearing. Puro Sound Lab's new PuroQuiet headphones start with a light, but sturdy, aluminum construction and plush protein leather ear cups that isolate the listener from 82% of ambient noises at 1kHz. This is an initial step to make it easier to hear the music. In addition, in noisier environments, PuroQuiet's Active Noise Cancellation feature analyzes the ambient noise and uses digital signal processing to further reduce competing background noise by a dramatic 22 dB. It's as if the wearer were placed in a sound proof bubble of silence. The headphone's isolation capabilities could be especially useful for children with sensory sensitivity.

Puro Sound Lab's process continues with the unique Puro Balanced Response, a frequency response curve that matches the natural sound reproduced in a perfectly tuned listening room. Thanks to the superior sound quality, music vocals and movie or game dialogue is heard clearly against the full spectrum of audio, from deep bass to high frequencies, reducing the need to increase the volume. And thanks to the advanced digital signal processing, the volume limiting at 85dB is completely imperceptible and natural. Llisteners won't need to increase the volume, and won't notice that they can't increase it beyond the point that would damage their hearing.

Kids will also appreciate that the new PuroQuiet headphones utilize the latest Bluetooth v4.0 technology for wirelessly connecting to their devices. The tangle-free connections can last up to 16 hours with Active Noise Cancellation is employed, making them perfect for long trips, and they can go 200 hours in standby mode between charges. The headphones stay wirelessly connected up to 30 feet, as well, so that parents can control the child's device from the seat in front or even the next room.

Puro Sound Lab's PuroQuiet wireless kids headphones will be available for sale at Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and PuroSound.com starting in late November for only $199.99 in both pink with a white headband, and blue with a black headband.
