RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - The Reno County Sheriff's Office identified the two men killed in last month's double homicide.

The sheriff's office was notified by the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center that the victims were identified as 56-year-old Marion Edwards Bates and 58-year-old Phillip Duane Anstine, both of Hutchinson.

On Aug. 27, deputies found the bodies after they responded to welfare check call in eastern Reno County.

The suspect, Kyle Hardwick, was arrested in Maize the following week. Hardwick is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of theft in connection to the case.

A witness told deputies Hardwick was the last person seen on the property where the bodies were found and was reportedly the last person to see Bates and Anstine alive.

The three men reportedly knew each other and agreed to meet up so one of the men could show off a new gun he had bought.
