An Australian woman has been slammed on social media for creating a 'designer' Christmas tree decorated with Chanel-emblazoned baubles.

Images of the festive item, which also came with bottles of faux Prosecco, were posted in a Facebook group by an anonymous user.

'Boujee Christmas tree,' the woman captioned her snaps adding: 'Kmart: tree, gold tinsel, lights, gold star.

'Fake snow - Reject shop, Small baubles, Eiffel Tower and prosecco - Spotlight. And the Chanel symbol, clear baubles and perfume I made myself.'

Within moments of posting, hundreds took to Facebook to 'roast' the woman's idea, with many saying they were stunned by its 'bogan' gaudiness.

'We wish you a tacky tristmas, we wish you a tacky tristmas,' one person said.

While another said the tree 'just screams bogan' noting 'nothing quite says Chanel like snow from the Reject Shop'.

A third cheekily added the Chanel-themed tree was the ideal place for the woman to display 'all her fake bags and shoes under', adding 'tis a tacky Christmas'.

Others commenting said they were genuinely bewildered by the woman's use of Chanel's trademarked CC logo to give the tree an elegant touch.

'Brenda, what's the point of putting 'Chanel' on there if it's not actually Chanel? You may think it's going to fool the plebs but it really makes you look like a complete tragic,' said one.

Another said: 'Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel would be beside herself that Brenda was using her symbol on such hideous design.'

'Chanel said never over accessorise. She would burn this hot mess,' said a third.

As well as the faux-French designer accessories, commenters were also put out by the addition of Spotlight's decorative Prosecco bottles.

'I'm not hating it, like some of the stuff on the page, just don't like the Prosecco bottle and little tree,' said one.

While another chimed in saying the tree is all kinds of out of proportion', adding 'I'm sorry but a Prosecco bottle is not a Christmas ornament'.
