Long Island School Superintendent Salaries Ranked

Residents have long known that Long Island school superintendents are among the highest-paid in the state. And data recently released by the state Department of Education backs that up.

The DOE released the salary information of school administrators across the state. Highest among them were Long Island superintendents, who have an average salary of more than $243,000.

The highest-paid superintendent on Long Island is Anna F. Hunderfund of the Locust Valley School District. She has an annual salary of $352,475. With other benefits, her total compensation is $427,023. However, Dr. William Johnson, the superintendent of Rockville Centre schools, has the highest overall compensation at $458,386.

Dr. Louis N. Wool, the superintendent of the Harrison Central School District, is the highest-paid superintendent in the state, with a total compensation of $485,546.

Despite that, seven of the 10 highest-paid superintendents in the state work on Long Island.

All of the data was self-reported by schools, and not every school district needed to submit data.
