One act of kindness can go a long way, but one teenager's big donation is about to make a lasting impact.

Chance Call, a 17-year-old from Roy, Utah, built 150 dog beds for the Davis County Animal Shelter.

For Call's Eagle Scout project, he wanted to do something to help animals, a press release sated.

Originally, his plan was to gather blankets for adoption groups, but the idea evolved into making and donating beds. Call said:

“I’ve always loved animals, I know shelters do their best, but sometimes it isn’t enough," Call stated in a press release. "I heard about PVC dog beds and I decided to do some research.”

After figuring out how to build the dog beds, he solicited funds by sending more than 700 emails, passing out flyers and visiting Intermountain Kennel Club, an organization that advocates for responsible dog ownership. Call said:

“I had no idea what to expect when I asked for the money. Everyone told me to plan for less than I wanted. My original goal was $2,500. I had the opposite problem, I received a little more than $3,500.”

After four days of cutting and assembling parts with 14 volunteers, the dog beds were finished.

The teen will deliver the beds to the shelter on April 1.

Call has been a member of the Eagle Scout troop since 2015.
