Young couple reveal how they furnished their ENTIRE home for $3,000 by using budget buys from Amart and Aldi - and how you can too

  • Pedro Cuccovillo Vitola and his fiancee Patty bought their first house in Sydney
  • Not wanting to be in any more debt, they sourced their furniture very carefully
  • Pedro looked for special deals at Amart furniture, Aldi and Kmart stores
  • In total they spent $3,000 on the living, dining and bedroom in the new home

A couple who recently bought their first home together have revealed how they bought furniture for the living room, dining area and bedroom - including a bed and 55 inch TV - for $3,000.

Pedro Cuccovillo Vitola, who worked as a producer on the Kyle & Jackie O Show, purchased a property with his fiancee Patty in Sydney's western suburbs, but didn't want to go into 'more debt' buying furnishings.

'If you look in the right places it's very achievable,' Pedro said on his podcast

'I think a lot of people fall into the trap of going to really expensive stores for their couches and dining tables but there is no need.'

He couldn't 'justify' spending thousands on big ticket items, so opted for fashion-forward products from budget retailers Kmart, Target and Amart Furniture.

LOUNGE ROOM

Pedro and Patty spent just $1,000 in total on the living area.

Their two couches, one a two-seater and one a three-seater, came to $600 in total from Amart but they managed to reduce the bill by finding an 'internal fault'.

'We spotted one was faulty, it had an interior fault, you couldn't see it, you couldn't feel it, so the second couch was refunded. So really we got two couches for $300,' he said.

The television, which is a 4K HD variety from Aldi, was $399; pillows, rugs and a TV cabinet from Kmart were $6, $29 and $25 respectively, and they bought an indoor plant for $35.

'Our little coffee table was $20 from Target and everything looks extremely high quality,' he said.

DINING ROOM

Pedro said he could almost have foregone a dining room table - which was $99 from Fantastic Furniture - because the pair usually use their kitchen island to eat food.

'We bought a dining table and we've had no guests here to use it. So if you're thinking of getting one, don't even bother,' he said.

'I'm glad I spent so little because we don't even use it.'

They bought four chairs to match the all-white table from Kmart for $35 each.

BEDROOM

Scoring big at Aldi's Special Buys bedroom deals meant the couple spent just $796 in total on a memory foam mattress, bed frame and quilt cover sets.

Pillows and pictures frames to decorate the monochrome space from Kmart were all less than $30 and Pedro said he feels extremely cosy in the space.

'Kmart is the best thing ever. People argue and say it's cheap but if it breaks, i'll just go and get another one,' he said.

'If I got something for $5,000 and wanted to change it a year later, I wouldn't because it cost so much.

'So when you buy things cheaply you have the freedom to change things.'

His top tips for young couples looking to cheaply - but stylishly - furnish their home was to shop around and avoid the national 'furniture specific' stores.
