MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Thousands of people are expected to visit the National Civil Rights Museum in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Organizers spent weeks preparing for the rush of guests Monday.

The NCRM is hosting "King Day." They said the focus of the celebration is community service and social and economic justice--things that were important to Dr. King.

There will be daylong performances and entertainment.

Admission to the museum is free Monday if you bring a canned good. Those donations will benefit the Mid-South Food Bank.

You can also get free admission by donating blood to the Lifeblood Drive, which will be set up at the museum.

The museum's visitor parking lot is closed Monday, along with several streets around the museum.

The celebration officially kicks off at 8 a.m.
