READING, Pa. - A Reading man died Sunday, when, according to witnesses, he drove his motorcycle through a red light at a high rate of speed and struck an SUV, the Berks County coroner said.
The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. at Schuylkill Avenue and Lackawanna Street in Glenside.
Witnesses reported that the SUV had the green light as it turned left from eastbound Lackawanna Street onto Route 183 North; they said Montero-Rentas, 30, disregarded the red light and hit the SUV at a high rate of speed, according to the coroner.
Jose R. Montero-Rentas, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene of head and chest injuries, the coroner said.
