Nine people were injured and one person has died in a multivehicle crash in Anne Arundel County on Christmas Eve, police said.Officers were called at 5:31 p.m. Sunday on a report of a crash involving three vehicles on Deale Churchton Road near Franklin Manor Road in Churchton.Authorities said a Volkswagen Golf, being driven by a 29-year-old man was speeding northbound on Deale Churchton Road when it drifted across the centerline and sideswiped a Lincoln Navigator before striking a Ford F-150 pickup truck head-on in the southbound lane.The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries, police said. On Tuesday, police said that the driver is expected to survive.Police said the following people in the Lincoln Navigator were injured:The 39-year-old driver was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuriesA 35-year-old front seat passenger had minor injuries, but refused treatmentA 34-year-old backseat passenger had minor injuries, but refused treatmentPolice said the following people in the Ford pickup truck were injured:The 62-year-old driver was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuriesA 7-year-old front seat passenger was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with minor injuriesA 40-year-old front seat passenger was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuriesA 62-year-old backseat passenger was taken to UM Prince George's Hospital Center with minor injuriesAn 87-year-old backseat passenger was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with critical injuries. Police said Tuesday that the victim, identified as Jean Elizabeth Dieux died on Monday.An 85-year-old backseat passenger was taken to UM Prince George's Hospital Center with serious injuriesThe primary cause of the collision was the driver failing to remain right of center, and alcohol, speed and wet roadway conditions are suspected to be contributing factors, police said.The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation, and any charges will be made after review by the state's attorney, police said.

  • A 40-year-old front seat passenger was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries
  • A 62-year-old backseat passenger was taken to UM Prince George's Hospital Center with minor injuries
  • An 87-year-old backseat passenger was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with critical injuries. Police said Tuesday that the victim, identified as Jean Elizabeth Dieux died on Monday.
